When a Massachusetts mom approached me to do a styled Alice in Wonderland themed creative photography session with her child in Keene NH, I was intrigued. She likes my offbeat approach to portraiture and knew we’d pull this off beautifully. We’d be consulting back and forth on the creative elements of the session – what colors work and don’t work, what the children should be wearing and so on.

We unloaded and carefully assembled the props she brought for the shoot. I positioned the children far enough away from the background trees to create that gorgeous ethereal blur and yet place them in the shade of the trees as the sun was dropping for that sweet light that I wait for all day.

We were blessed with exceptionally warm temperatures that evening, plus a sunny sky. I can’t really plan for perfect weather, but I always hope it turns out.

The children were exceptionally well-behaved. I was blown away by their composure. People walked by wondering what was going on as we we unpacked bags of sweet treats and props that mom brought with her.

I really love these fun creative photo sessions and am happy to do them in both Keene and the Upper Valley for children, seniors and even couples. I hope you enjoy these offbeat Alice in Wonderland inspired images.
